Mission Statement: The Santa Rosa County Council (FL) is a local chapter of the Navy League of the United States (NLUS), located in Washington D.C., and operating in the Milton, Florida community. The Navy League is a civilian organization dedicated to informing the American people and their government that the United States of America is a maritime nation and that its national defense and economic well being are dependent upon havinga strong sea services - U. S. Navy, U. S. Marine Corps, U. S. Coast Guard and U. S.-flag Merchant Marine. The Navy League of the United States (NLUS) was founded in 1902 with the encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt. The Navy League has provided a powerful voice for a stronger sea service to Congress and the American people. The Navy League has grown into the foremost citizens' organization to serve, support and stand with all the sea services.
The Santa Rosa County Council of NLUS has three missions: 1.) to enhance the morale of active duty personnel and their families (NAS Whiting Field); 2.) to inform Congress and the American public on theimportance of strong sea services; and 3.) to support youth through programs such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Naval Junior Rerserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) programs that exposeyoung people to the values of our sea services. There is a link to each of these maritime entities in the "Links to Other Pages" section in the leftcolumn of the Home Page.
The Santa Rosa County Council of NLUS depends on individuals like you to carry forward our education and support missions. Councils can adopt a Sea Cadet and NJROTC programs and ships and/or shore commands (ours is NAS Whiting Field). As a part of our shore command program we reward and honor enlisted and officer personnel, host luncheons, dinners, and celebrations for military personnel. Our Community Support Program also provides support for Individual Augmentees (IA) and their families. IAs are militarymembers who receive individual orders to transfer for duty on extremely short notice, leaving a spouse and family behind in the community with a minimum orno preparation time.To meet our council goals our council adopted the local NAS Whiting Field, Whiting Naval Sea Cadet Corps and NJROTC programs at Milton, Pace and Navarre High Schools. The Sea Cadets and NJROTC programs develop future leaders and good citizens by instilling in them the Navy's core values of honor, courage and commitment. We are proud to be working with these units as they develop young women and men to be leaders. The left column under "Links to Other Pages" has a link for each of these programs.
